Friday 26th: The Shirt Tail Stompers
The Shirt Tail Stompers are one of the UK's best export onto the European Swing Dance scene. Formed in 2010 for the London Lindy Exchange and led by Trumpeter Steve Coombe, they have played numerous dance camps and shows throughout Europe. They have a passion for swing music and movement, with their extensive knowledge and experience of social dancing, they are definitely the band to dance to in 2012.
Truly appreciating the art of swing and knowing it's place in history, they are heavily influenced by Fats Waller, Fletcher Henderson, Wingy Manone and many other greats from the swing and trad jazz era of the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s. They are also influenced by the likes of the early Duke Ellington, Sidney Bechet and the old musical roots of New Orleans.
Last year alone saw them playing for dancers in Sweden, Belgium, Hungary, The Netherlands, Ireland, Germany, Italy and throughout the UK to rave reviews. Highlights include Lindy Shock in Budapest, Shout Sister Shout in Rome and Smokey Feet in Amsterdam. Dancers and lindy hop are very close to their hearts and the band have relished making people's feet move all over the world.
The Shirt Tail Stompers will be playing at the Friday night dance (26th Oct)

Saturday 27th: Alex Mendham & His Orchestra
Formed in 2010 under the direction of Alex Mendham, the orchestra authentically performs and records period dance music from the 1920s and 30s.
The passion the orchestra has for this music is what keeps them together. No corner is cut when it comes to preserving the music. From their vintage instruments to the pomade on their hair, no detail is overlooked. The orchestra also prides itself on its library of music. Thousands of rare dance band arrangements from the period. All of these things are indispensable tools of the trade.
The orchestra has enjoyed a busy working schedule in London's West End performing in such venues as The Pigalle Club on Piccadilly Circus and The Floridita on Wardour Street.
Alex Mendham has enjoyed a rich and varied solo career appearing as both vocalist and saxophonist with Vince Giordano and The Nighthawks on Broadway New York (now appearing in HBO's Boardwalk Empire), at the Bix Beiderbecke Jazz Festival, Davenport Iowa and at Shanghai Jazz, New Jersey.
Most recently appearing as guest vocalist with Dean Mora and His Orchestra onboard HMS Queen Mary, Long Beach, California as part of the yearly Art Deco Festival.
