Accommodation

For all of our overseas and out of town visitors we can offer you some choices to help make your stay in London both memorable and affordable.

Free Accommodation with Local Hosts
We will guarantee free accommodation to the first 50 overseas visitors who book and request accommodation at the time of booking. You will be informed about where you are staying or who you are hosting by 30th September. Accommodation is only guaranteed for the nights of the festival (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) but some hosts may be able to offer accommodation for longer. We will endeavour to find accommodation for all overseas visitors who request it but cannot guarantee it. We will also try to find accommodation for UK visitors who request it but cannot guarantee it (for UK visitors we will prioritise those who book earliest and have to travel furthest). Please do not ask for accommodation at the last minute as it will probably not be possible.

If you intend to use this option then please help us by booking as early as possible. The early bookers will generally have the advantage of getting the most convenient places to stay.

Hotels & Hostels
Our recommendation for this year is the newly refurbished Globetrotter Inn. It is about a 10 minute walk (half a mile) from both the workshops and the evening venues.

The Globetrotter is a bright, clean hostel environment offering secure accommodation at an affordable price. The inn is situated in Hammersmith, a quick ride from Heathrow, Victoria, and all of London's many attractions. Facilities include:

  • Continental breakfast
  • 24hrs shop, internet cafe, and tv lounges
  • Gym, bike hire, and a travel desk
  • Bar (serving meals as well as drinks)
  • Laundry and luggage storage
  • Pick up on arrangement from the airport

Standard Prices (Get £1 off these rates by asking for Emma and quoting LBF)

  • Share rooms (6 beds) start at £19pp
  • Share rooms (4 beds) at £22pp

This is a lovely and clean place with a large range of facilities good organisation. By far one of the best hostels we've seen! We also use the Globetrotter as the venue for our after hours party on the Saturday night of the festival.

More upmarket!
In previous years many people have been very happy staying at the Chiswick Hotel. This Hotel is about 7-8 minutes walk (half a mile) from the workshops and a 15-minute walk to Hammersmith Town Hall.

They offer very good rates for a 3 star hotel in this area and include continental breakfast and VAT. All rooms are en suite, with TV and tea/coffee making facilities. Free car parking is available at the hotel.

Rates are £45 for a single and £75 for a twin or double if quoting LBF.

Chiswick Hotel is conveniently situated on the broad, tree-lined Chiswick High Road, at the junction with Chiswick Lane, a mere twenty minutes journey from central London and Heathrow Airport to the west. There is ample car parking available at the hotel. A short walk from the hotel takes you to the River Thames with many well-known and character pubs and there are many places of historical interest within easy reach. Dining is a pleasure in the hotels intimate restaurant serving high quality food at reasonable prices. Alternatively you may wish to sample some of the many restaurants or al fresco cafes in the immediate area, offering menus from all over the world.

For those who do not require all the facilities of a Hotel but who are looking for clean basic accommodation of a B&B standard, the Chiswick Court Hotel is 1-2 minutes walk from the workshops. All rooms are en suite, with TV and tea/coffee making facilities and a fridge. Free car parking is available.

There are some family rooms sleeping 3 or 4 (double bed + 2 singles), £25 single, £40 twin or double, £60 family.

Another Hostel
Here's another hostel not too far away for people on a tight budget. We've no personal experience but can pass on a third party recommendation for a hostel in Earl's Court. Within walking distance of Earl's Court Underground Station which is three stops from Turnham Green on the Piccadilly Line (or more on the District Line).

Twin with a bath £17 night pp inc breakfast and linen. 4 dorm with a bath £16 night pp inc breakfast and linen

Note: Unfortunately bookings cannot be made more than 2 weeks in advance.

Other Options
The link below will give you brief details of some other hotels in the immediate area, we do not have direct experience of these. However, all of them should of a good standard.
