Welcome

We're now pleased to announce details for the London Balboa Festival on the weekend of 26th-28th October 2007. The aim of the festival is to promote better awareness of Balboa and to encourage more people in the UK to learn this wonderful dance. The festival is being organised and run by a non-profit making organisation.

We're pleased to announce that the main teachers for this year's festival are:

  • Sylvia Sykes (USA)
  • Dan Guest (UK)
  • Peter Loggins & Mia Goldsmith (USA)
  • Steve Garrett & Heidi Salerno (USA)
  • Rob & Diane van Haaren (Netherlands/USA)
  • Mickey Fortanasce & Kelly Arsenault (USA)
  • Bernard & Anne-Hélène Cavasa (France)
  • Andy Spitz & Christelle De Cruz (Belgium/France)

In addition, the following special guests will also be coming to this year's festival. They will teach taster classes and/or normal classes for some of the levels:

  • Ray Cunningham (USA)
  • Marcus Koch & Bärbl Kaufer (GERMANY)

We'll probably be having 6 or 7 levels again this year. The workshops will provide around 8-10 hours of classes for each level. All classes will be held at the Arts Educational School in Chiswick, West London.

A great line up of entertainment is planned for the evenings, starting off with the Friday Dance. That night you'll get to dance to our live band Mora's Modern Swingtet for the first time as we'll also have great DJs playing a wide selection of swing music.

For Saturday night we're having our Grand Ball under the name The Big Swingin' Ball, for which we'll again have our live band Mora's Modern Swingtet. Although the festival's daytime classes will be dedicated to the teaching of Balboa, the Ball is open to everyone. In between the band sets we'll have a top line up of DJs to keep you swingin' til the early hours.

The venue for both the Friday and Saturday nights is Hammersmith Town Hall. This listed building was built in the 1930's and is one of the largest halls in West London. It has a superb wood panelled interior and one of the finest sprung dance floors in the country. The location has easy access with plenty of good public transport links and parking facilities.

We bring the weekend to a close with Sunday's Dance at Ealing Town Hall. Have fun watching the 'International Balboa Competition' whilst sipping tea and nibbling on a scone!

The festival has now become a popular annual fixture on the swing calendar. Don't miss this opportunity to get involved and join us for this 5th 'London Balboa Festival' and 'Big Swingin' Ball.

Bookings are now open so go ahead and secure your place now...
